Shower Seals and Nano Coating: Keep the Roles Clear

Seals and silicone joints manage water in an enclosure. A glass coating has a different role and should not be used to conceal a failed joint or substitute for a repair.

Inspect before coating

Check for damaged seals, loose sections and visible joint deterioration. Refer repair needs to the enclosure installer or relevant trade. Confirm any curing requirements for new sealant before the coating preparation begins.

Define what stays untreated

Ask the coating supplier and enclosure manufacturer how seals should be protected during cleaning and application. Avoid forcing preparation liquid into gaps or coating flexible parts without approval. Record the boundary in the job scope, especially where several materials meet at the base of the glass.

Inform future repair work

Keep the coating identity available if a seal later needs replacement. The repairer may need to assess preparation and adhesion at the affected boundary. After work is complete, inspect the glass and ask whether local care or recoating is necessary. Update the maintenance record instead of assuming the whole enclosure still has an identical treatment history.
