A carton count is not a reliable unit count when cartons contain different SKUs or pack sizes. Mixed cartons need an item-level packing record.

Reconcile each carton identifier with SKU, size, quantity and batch where available. Check the total against the accepted order before the goods leave the warehouse.
Ten cartons may contain different bottle counts because of protective packaging or mixed products. Multiplying ten by a standard carton quantity can misstate the shipment.
Keep the packing record separate from a generic catalogue. If a carton is repacked, revise its actual contents rather than retaining the old identifier unchanged.
