Identify manufacturer instructions and appearance constraints before recommending treatment.

A factory-matte vehicle requires a consultation focused on preserving the intended appearance. The finish should be identified through the relevant vehicle information rather than treated as ordinary glossy paint with a different colour. Product and process selection must respect that distinction.
Obtain the manufacturer's care information and any known repair or previous-treatment history. Identify panels whose finish may differ from the original. A visually similar repaired area should not automatically be assumed to follow the same guidance as the rest of the vehicle.
Discuss what the owner expects to remain unchanged and which current product is being considered. Use manufacturer-confirmed compatibility and an appropriate approved test-area process where required. Do not borrow a gloss-enhancement procedure merely because it is familiar to the workshop.
For example, an appearance issue may need specialist assessment rather than an attempt to correct it during a standard coating preparation package. Keep that distinction in the quote and job record. Provide care information for the exact installed product while retaining the vehicle manufacturer's relevant guidance. The consultation should leave the owner with a supported treatment scope and realistic expectations, not a promise that a protective coating can restore or improve every matte-finish defect without changing the surface's character.
Identify the vehicle's factory finish and obtain the relevant care guidance. Record the customer's expectation that the intended matte appearance remains consistent. Avoid promising a glossy improvement on a surface whose appearance depends on controlled texture.
Confirm the coating and preparation process for that finish, including any supported test method. Keep abrasive correction assumptions out of a generic service package unless the vehicle manufacturer's guidance and specialist assessment support the work. At handover, explain the installed treatment and ongoing care route. The consultation should be judged by whether it preserves the agreed finish and gives the owner usable information, not by whether the result resembles polished gloss paint.
