Sun-to-Shade Vehicle Intake: Measure the Panel, Not Just the Workshop Air

Check individual panel conditions when a vehicle moves from sunlight into a workshop because the surrounding air does not define every surface temperature.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

A vehicle brought indoors after parking in the sun does not instantly reach the workshop’s air temperature. Different panels can retain different conditions, especially when their previous exposure and materials differ.

Map representative panels

Check the areas relevant to the planned preparation and coating using a suitable instrument. Include the previously sun-facing side and shaded areas. Follow instrument guidance, particularly where reflective surfaces can complicate non-contact readings.

Wait for the product’s conditions

Use the exact coating’s application requirements rather than a fixed universal waiting period. Recheck after washing or preparation if those steps can change the surface state. Air temperature alone is not an adequate release criterion.

Record Purpose
Arrival exposure Explains unequal initial conditions
Panel measurements Confirms the surfaces being treated
Application start Links accepted conditions to the actual work

Plan the workflow around the vehicle

Use the waiting period for suitable tasks that do not compromise preparation or create new contamination. Avoid rushing a warmer panel merely because another panel is ready.

Investigate local application differences

If one section behaves differently during spreading or wiping, compare its recorded conditions before changing the product amount or method. A local temperature history may be relevant, but it should be investigated alongside preparation and technique.

A practical intake record does not need dozens of readings. It needs enough representative information to show that the actual coated areas met the required conditions when the work began.
