Pressure Units in Coating Test Reports: Convert bar and psi Without Changing the Test

A pressure value must retain its unit and measurement context. One bar is approximately 14.504 psi, but a correct conversion does not make two different test arrangements equivalent.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

The key distinction

Keep the pressure location, apparatus and method with the value. An equipment setting may not describe the actual condition at a nozzle or specimen, so avoid treating the converted number as the whole exposure specification.

Practical checks

  1. Identify what pressure was measured or set.
  2. Convert the confirmed value consistently.
  3. Compare the remaining test conditions before interpreting results.

Example

Arithmetic example: two bar is approximately 29.01 psi. That conversion says nothing about flow, nozzle geometry or the pressure experienced by a particular coated surface.

Scope and limits

Do not use this example as a pressure-washing recommendation. Equipment, surface and coating instructions determine permitted use; the guide only explains accurate reporting of units.
