Assess the starting condition

Identify the metal finish and any protective lacquer. Inspect contact marks from displayed objects and transport. A polished sample does not automatically represent brushed or textured plinths.

A practical working method

  1. Trial a representative exposed face.
  2. Exclude unapproved object-contact and attachment surfaces.
  3. Respect the coating’s cure before handling and display.
  4. Inspect dry appearance after installation.

Common mistake

Treating every surface because the plinth is small can extend the product beyond its confirmed scope. Coating should not be used to compensate for unstable display mounting.

What a useful result looks like

A useful result has an accepted visible finish and clear handling instructions. Keep the display object’s support requirements separate from decorative surface protection, especially where adhesives or protective pads are used.
