Nano Coating on Low-E Glass: Identify the Exposed Face

Low-E describes a glazing function, not which exposed surface is available for treatment. The glass construction and coating location must be identified.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Practical approach

Obtain the glazing specification and ask the supplier which face, if any, may receive the proposed product and preparation.

A multi-pane unit can contain functional layers that are not on the accessible exterior face.

Decision limits

Do not infer surface compatibility from the low-E label alone or disturb a glazing unit to access an internal layer.
