Choosing a Nano Coating for a Mixed Metal Interior

Build a practical coating plan for interiors that combine chrome, brass, aluminium and stainless steel, using finish-specific samples and care instructions.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

A single interior can combine chrome furniture, lacquered brass handles, brushed aluminium panels and stainless steel appliances. Specifying one nano coating for everything may sound convenient, but the exposed finishes and cleaning routines can differ. Begin with a surface schedule that makes those differences visible.

Build a usable surface schedule

For each item, record its location, manufacturer, finish code, condition, existing treatment and normal cleaner. Include a photograph and note whether the surface is frequently touched, exposed to water or near heat. Keep unknown finishes marked as unknown until their specification is confirmed.

Separate base metal from the exposed layer. A brass handle under lacquer and a bare brass panel should not receive the same approval merely because their base alloy is related.

Group by approved process

Create groups only where the coating supplier and finish manufacturer support the same preparation and care method. Use a representative sample for each group. The objective is a small number of workable processes, not a different bottle for every object or a universal claim without evidence.

Record excluded areas such as hinges, electrical contacts, food-contact zones and functional grip surfaces. Those exclusions should be shown on the installer photographs rather than left to memory.

Review the maintenance team’s role

Ask which cleaners are already stocked and how cloths are assigned. A treatment that needs an incompatible cleaning routine may create more operational difficulty than benefit. Test ordinary fingerprint and water-mark removal after each sample has completed its required cure.

Compare both effort and dry appearance. Do not approve a product simply because it makes a sample bead water while changing the selected satin or patinated finish.

Deliver one clear handover

Provide a room-by-room list of treated surfaces, approved cleaners, application dates and review points. Keep photographs of accepted samples with it. If a fitting is replaced, check its finish before assuming the old approval applies. This approach turns a broad request for metal protection into a repeatable maintenance programme built around the surfaces people actually use.
