Fender Marks on a Ceramic-Coated Hull

Fenders protect a boat from contact, but dirt and repeated movement at their contact points can still leave marks. A coating does not remove the need to inspect the fenders and hull together.

Check the contact system

Look at fender placement, covers and any trapped contamination. Follow the vessel and fender manufacturer’s guidance for the mooring arrangement. Record where recurring marks develop and whether they correspond to movement at a particular berth.

Clean before judging damage

Use the approved cleaning routine on a small affected area and inspect it dry. Some marks may be residue; others may involve the coating or underlying finish. Do not immediately reach for a polishing compound, because abrasion can change both the repair scope and the protective layer.

Resolve the recurring source

Clean or replace unsuitable fender covers as needed and review the arrangement with the relevant boating professional. Share photographs and cleaning history with the coating installer if marks remain. A local service may be appropriate, but it should be paired with attention to the contact that caused the problem.
