End-of-Season Care for a Ceramic-Coated Boat

Preparing a boat for storage is a useful opportunity to clean, inspect and document its coated surfaces. It also helps identify work that should be scheduled before the next launch.

Remove the season’s contamination

Follow the approved wash process and address remaining marks with compatible methods. Inspect the surface dry before covering it. Record deposits that do not respond to routine cleaning so they can be assessed without repeated trial-and-error treatment.

Review contact and storage points

Check where covers, supports and equipment may touch the boat. Follow the cover and vessel manufacturers’ instructions for fit and ventilation. A ceramic coating does not make a surface immune to rubbing or trapped grit. Keep the care of fittings and glazing in the storage plan as separate surface tasks.

Leave a clear record

Photograph representative panels and note unresolved issues, recent repairs and products used. Store the installer details and coating instructions with the vessel records. At the next seasonal inspection, those notes make it easier to distinguish a pre-existing mark from a change that occurred during storage.
