Easy-Clean Coatings and Household Hygiene

Making a surface easier to maintain is a different claim from disinfecting it. A household coating should be used alongside the hygiene practices appropriate to the room and its use.

Keep the product roles clear

Identify the protective coating, routine cleaner and any disinfectant as separate products with separate instructions. Do not assume a nano coating is antibacterial or antiviral unless the exact formulation has supporting evidence for that claim and use.

Check compatibility with the routine

Tell the coating supplier which cleaning and hygiene products are required. Include concentration and contact time where specified by their manufacturers. A coating recommendation should not cause necessary hygiene procedures to be abandoned. Where compatibility is uncertain, resolve it before treating the surface.

Train everyone who cleans

Provide a concise written method and keep products clearly labelled. Do not mix cleaners or improvise stronger combinations when a surface looks marked. If appearance changes after the established routine, document the products used and ask for guidance. For a particular household, workplace or hospitality setting, the required hygiene procedure remains part of the application decision.
