Synergy is a stronger claim than saying a coating contains both graphene and borophene.

Synergy is a stronger claim than saying a coating contains both graphene and borophene. It suggests an interaction that produces a result beyond a defined expectation for the components. Without specifying the expectation, the endpoint and the comparison, the word can become an attractive label with no clear technical meaning.
The appropriate comparison depends on what is being measured. A change in gloss, a cleaning score and a time-to-failure result do not necessarily share the same response scale. Decide how an expected combined response would be established before looking at the data. Account for additive amounts, control formulations and experimental variability. A combined formula outperforming a base alone does not, by itself, isolate a synergistic interaction between the two additives.
A technical difference also needs practical interpretation. Would a customer notice it under the intended conditions? Is it repeatable across specimens and batches? Were other important properties retained? If those questions remain open, describe the finding narrowly. The product may still be worth developing without advertising a mechanism or universal superiority that the evidence has not established.
NANOLAB can add graphene and borophene together in one coating formulation. We can offer the combination as a formulation option without declaring synergy in advance. Any synergy claim should refer to a specific formulation, property, comparison and supporting result.
