Graphene and Borophene Combined Coatings: Abrasion, Scratches and Honest Test Labels

A combined graphene and borophene coating can be evaluated for different forms of surface damage, but those evaluations should not be blended into one claim. Abrasion, scratching and an indentation-based hardness measurement describe different questions. A result from one method needs to retain its original meaning.

Match the assessment to the expected damage

Consider how the surface is used. Repeated cleaning contact may suggest one evaluation, while a particular industrial contact condition may call for another. Define the substrate, coating application, conditioning and assessment method. Include relevant controls and inspect the actual damage or change produced. Calling an unspecified demonstration a hardness test makes it difficult for a buyer to compare products fairly.

Keep the product language proportionate

If a result supports improved performance under a stated procedure, say so with the necessary conditions. Do not expand it into scratch-proof, damage-proof or an unrestricted protection claim. Customers need to understand that contact conditions and maintenance still matter. A clear test description is commercially stronger than a spectacular number whose scale, method or relevance is missing.

NANOLAB can add graphene and borophene together to the same coating formulation. That capability does not establish a hardness rating or an abrasion result in advance. Any such claim should be attached to the specific formula and the method used to evaluate it.
