Assess the starting condition

Inspect backing, edges and any existing coating. Check whether removal and refitting are permitted under the vehicle instructions. Liquid repellency on the face does not establish waterproofing of the backing.

A practical working method

  1. Clean the carpet with its approved method.
  2. Allow appropriate drying through the actual construction.
  3. Test protectant on a suitable inconspicuous section.
  4. Inspect before refitting and loading luggage.

Common mistake

Treating a damp carpet can hide unresolved moisture. More product at the edges cannot guarantee protection of concealed layers.

What a useful result looks like

A useful handover identifies treated textile and excluded backing or fittings. Keep load-contact wear and regular cleaning in the maintenance plan rather than promising a spill-proof luggage area.
