From cutting and one-step correction to final finishing.
Dark runoff shows that material is leaving the surface, but it does not establish how much contamination remains. A useful cleaner comparison defines the acceptable final surface and checks it after the approved rinse and drying process.

Runoff appearance depends on soil type, water volume, lighting and how the liquid is collected. A small amount of strongly coloured contamination may look dramatic, while another residue may be difficult to see. Use runoff as an observation, not as the only performance score or a substitute for final inspection.
Illustrative example: two cleaners produce different-looking runoff from comparable test areas. After drying, one area still has a visible film. The useful comparison includes that remaining film and the additional cleaning required; a video of the runoff alone would omit the customer's actual outcome.
Do not use a more aggressive cleaner merely to create a dramatic demonstration. The method must remain appropriate for the surface and any existing protection. If cleanliness cannot be judged visually, seek a suitable assessment method for the specific question rather than inventing a universal score.
