Practical approach
Pause the relevant movements where practical or use a controlled transaction cutoff and reconciliation process.
A carton counted in storage and then counted again in dispatch inflates the physical total.
Decision limits
Do not compare a live inventory screen with a count taken at a different cutoff without reconciling intervening activity.
