Separate labour from product quantity

Inspection, washing, decontamination, correction, preparation, application and final checks all use time. Vehicle size and condition affect each stage differently. Intricate wheels or mixed finishes may add more labour than the coating volume suggests.

Estimate consumables such as applicators, towels and preparation products. Include suitable handling of used materials rather than assuming every item can be reused indefinitely.

Account for occupied space

Curing or protected storage may reserve a bay after active application is finished. Record that occupancy separately from hands-on labour. Arrange collection around the product’s permitted release stage and the client’s practical needs.

Do not price every coating by a standard layer count. Product workflow and the agreed finish can change the required time substantially.

Learn from completed jobs

Compare the estimate with actual time by stage and note why it differed. A repaired panel, extra contamination or an interruption may explain the change. Use those records to improve future scoping and communicate extras clearly before they are performed. A useful costing system connects price to the defined work and supports consistent quality without rushing preparation or inspection.
