A grille can contain painted bars, plated details, textured plastic and concealed mechanisms within a small area. Its deep openings also make residue removal difficult. Before coating it, decide whether each intended surface can be cleaned, dried, reached and inspected properly. An inaccessible face is not a reason to apply extra liquid from farther away.
Inspect the grille with the vehicle safely parked and the engine off. Identify cameras, sensors and active shutters using the vehicle documentation. Do not insert tools through openings or attempt to move shutters by hand. Cosmetic care should stay within the access allowed by the manufacturer.
Map the visible materials and choose products compatible with each. A cleaner suited to the painted surround may be unsuitable for a decorative finish inside an opening. Use a small, controllable tool where appropriate, and remove loosened dirt instead of pushing it into the assembly.
Dry accessible recesses and check again for escaping water. If a joint continues to release moisture, postpone coating that area. Masking adjacent parts helps define the work but does not make an incompatible product safe.
Work in small sections with an applicator sized for the reachable faces. Follow the product's stated quantity and levelling instructions. Flooding a grille makes it harder to remove excess from corners and can leave visible patches.
Inspect from above, below and both sides while residue can still be corrected using the approved method. A front-on view misses deposits on the lower faces of horizontal bars. If complete access would require dismantling, use an appropriately qualified service or leave the inaccessible area untreated. Record that boundary for the owner so future cleaning follows the same practical limits.
