Cleaning a Coated Car After Parking Beneath a Kitchen Exhaust

A car parked near a kitchen exhaust may collect a different film from ordinary road dust. The first useful step is to connect the deposit pattern with the parking location without pretending that appearance alone identifies its chemistry.

Record the pattern before changing products

Note which side faces the outlet, whether the roof is affected more than vertical panels, and how quickly the film returns. Check whether neighbouring vehicles or nearby surfaces show a similar pattern. These observations can help explain exposure, but they are not laboratory identification.

Wash a small representative area with the coating's accepted maintenance process. If a greasy-looking film remains, consult the installer about an appropriate cleaner for the coated paint and adjacent trim. Do not substitute an oven cleaner or a kitchen degreaser merely because the suspected source is a kitchen.

Keep cleaning controlled and rinse fully. Use clean tools so released residue is not carried onto already finished panels. Inspect after drying before deciding whether another treatment is needed.

Reduce repeated exposure

If the deposit reliably returns in that parking position, changing the parking arrangement may be more effective than repeatedly escalating cleaning. A cover is not automatically a solution: covering a contaminated car can create contact between trapped dirt and the finish, and the cover itself needs suitable care.

Record the successful cleaning method and the time between visible recurrence. This gives an owner or facilities manager something practical to act on. If the finish remains marked after compatible cleaning, seek inspection rather than attempting aggressive correction. A ceramic coating may support maintenance, but it does not remove the need to understand a persistent contamination source or guarantee resistance to an unidentified deposit.
