Ceramic Coating a Repainted Panel: What to Confirm
Confirm paint cure guidance, repair history and preparation requirements before applying ceramic coating to a refinished vehicle panel.

A repainted panel should not receive a coating based only on the number of days since the repair. Paint systems, repair conditions and curing processes vary. Obtain the refinisher’s guidance for the exact paint system before planning protection.
Ask for the repair information
Record which panels were refinished and when. Ask when washing, polishing and protective products are permitted. Those permissions may not share the same timing. If the information is unavailable, clarify it before scheduling coating work.
Do not treat a neighbouring factory-painted panel as a complete guide to the repaired area’s condition. Colour match and a dry feel do not establish that every subsequent treatment is appropriate.
Inspect and prepare conservatively
Check the repair for visible defects, residue and areas that require assessment by the refinisher. Confirm the intended preparation and NANOLAB product compatibility. Any polishing should respect the condition and instructions for that repaired paint.
Use a suitable test area where approved. Stop if preparation produces an unexpected response instead of repeatedly wiping or polishing the panel.
Coordinate the coating record
Document the product used and any areas left for later treatment. If the rest of the vehicle already has protection, define how the repaired panel will be maintained alongside it. A local repair does not automatically require recoating every unaffected surface.
