Ceramic Coating Estimates: Distinguish Projected Area from Actual Surface Area

A flat outline does not necessarily equal the area of a shaped surface. Complex geometry can affect a material estimate based on width times height.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Practical approach

Divide the work into measurable zones and document approximations. Use a representative pilot to check consumption where geometry makes direct measurement difficult.

A deeply shaped wheel cannot be estimated reliably from the area of its visible circular outline alone.

Decision limits

Do not present an approximate geometry calculation as exact coverage. Show the allowance and refine it with actual project observations.
