Assess glazed tile faces and grout joints separately when selecting preparation, cleaning and surface-protection methods.
Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

A tiled area is not a single uniform material. The glazed face, grout, sealant and any metal trim can respond differently to preparation and care. A coating trial should include the interfaces that the installer will actually encounter.
Record tile type and finish, grout type, sealants and previous treatments where known. Do not assume that a product approved for a glazed face is suitable for the adjacent grout or elastic joint.
Use a spare assembly or an agreed inconspicuous area containing both tile and grout. Apply only methods approved for each material. Photograph the clean, dry baseline so colour changes and residue can be compared later.
| Zone | Relevant observation |
|---|---|
| Glaze | Uniform appearance and cleaning response |
| Grout | Colour, residue and compatibility |
| Sealant | Approved contact and absence of unwanted change |
If only the tile face is approved, specify how the operator will avoid unintended treatment of joints. Do not leave that decision to improvisation during application. For floors or wet walking surfaces, surface appearance is not enough: any effect on the required slip performance needs the appropriate assessment. Keep the accepted scope and care method in the handover record so later cleaning does not cross a material boundary unnoticed.
Ask NANOLAB about your surface and intended use. For application and care, use the current instructions for the exact product.
