Use matched feed and product-water measurements to track a reverse-osmosis rinse system, while keeping operating conditions and absolute water quality visible.
Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

A reverse-osmosis system should be assessed using both what enters it and what it produces. A product-water reading alone can change because the incoming water changed, the operating conditions changed or the equipment needs attention.
Record feed and permeate conductivity under comparable, documented temperature conditions. Include flow, operating state and other parameters required by the equipment supplier. Use the specified sampling procedure after the system reaches its defined operating condition.
A conductivity-based apparent rejection can be calculated as (feed conductivity − permeate conductivity) / feed conductivity × 100. With illustrative readings of 600 and 18 in the same units, the result is 97%. This is a screening indicator, not a complete analysis of every dissolved substance.
Keep the absolute permeate reading beside the percentage. A high percentage does not automatically mean the produced water meets the wash bay’s requirement.
| Observed change | Investigation |
|---|---|
| Feed and product both rise | Incoming-water change and system response |
| Product rises with stable feed | Operation, sampling or equipment condition |
| Flow changes substantially | Supplier-specified operating review |
Confirm the water at the actual nozzle, since storage and hoses lie downstream. Use a controlled dry-appearance check and a suitable water analysis when unexplained deposits persist.
Do not adjust membrane pressure, chemical cleaning or treatment settings from a single informal reading. Provide the equipment supplier with the paired trend and operating record so any corrective action addresses the actual system.
