Coated Shower Glass in a Partially Refurbished Hotel

Manage shower glass coatings during a staged hotel refurbishment by separating old, restored and new glazing in the trial and care records.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

A partially refurbished hotel contains several surface histories at once. New glass, restored older panes and existing treated enclosures may look similar but require different preparation and care decisions. A room-level register prevents one instruction being applied indiscriminately.

Classify the rooms before treatment

Room group Information needed
New glazing Supplier, factory treatment and installation requirements
Existing untreated glazing Condition, deposits and restoration needs
Previously treated glazing Known product and care history
Unknown history Inspection and limited compatibility assessment

Do not combine these groups into one coating performance average without preserving their identities. Preparation effort and remaining appearance defects may differ substantially.

Coordinate with refurbishment work

Plan coating after relevant dusty or contaminating work and according to the installation requirements for sealants and fittings. Confirm when the shower can return to service using the exact coating instructions. A room’s booking deadline does not determine cure readiness.

Use a representative pilot in each important group

For example, a new wing may have clear glass with a known factory finish, while an older floor has persistent deposits. Success in the new wing does not establish the restoration method for the older floor. Trial the complete preparation and coating sequence where conditions differ.

Give housekeeping a room-specific instruction

The room record should show treatment date, approved care method and any temporary restriction. Make the status available at the point where cleaning work is assigned. Avoid relying on a separate spreadsheet that the cleaning team never sees.

If a pane is replaced during refurbishment, update the record immediately. A room marked “coated” may contain one new untreated panel unless replacement is tracked.

Compare like with like

Review cleaning time and appearance within the room groups before drawing a property-wide conclusion. Report preparation cost separately from routine maintenance benefit. This keeps the coating programme useful during a changing building project and prevents refurbishment differences from being mistaken for product inconsistency.

Discuss a shower-glass coating project. For application and care, use the current instructions for the exact product.
