The first detailing task tomorrow depends on the decisions made during today's cleanup. Tools left unidentified, damp towels mixed with clean stock and bottles returned with leaking caps can undermine preparation before the next vehicle enters the bay. Close the job by restoring a known working state.
Remove used materials first and sort them according to their residues and care instructions. Do not refill a clean shelf while dirty tools are still being handled above it. Identify items requiring disposal, special handling, repair or further inspection rather than leaving them in an ambiguous middle category.
Clean work surfaces, trays and storage containers using suitable methods. Lift equipment to inspect underneath and check the contact points of lights, bottle bases and trolley handles. Follow equipment instructions for disconnecting and maintaining powered tools.
Process reusable towels and brushes through their approved cleaning and drying routes. Return them to clean storage only after inspection. A tidy stack of damp or uncertain items is not ready stock.
Record products that are low, damaged equipment, unresolved contamination and work still curing in the bay. State the next permitted action where a product has handling or exposure restrictions. Avoid relying on the next operator to infer timing from an open bottle or a towel on the bonnet.
Prepare the next job's kit only after the clean and used areas are clearly separated. Check that labels, instructions and replacement consumables are available. A brief opening inspection the following day should confirm this state, not repeat the entire cleanup. Consistent close-down reduces avoidable delays and makes unexpected problems easier to notice before they affect a customer's finish.
