Colloidal silica and sodium silicate should not be treated as interchangeable names. A buyer needs the exact material identity and intended use before interpreting a supplier's silica-related product description.
Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge
Nouryon describes colloidal silica as a dispersion containing silica particles and distinguishes it from sodium-silicate solutions. For finished-coating procurement, that difference is a reason to request product-specific documentation rather than infer a formula from the word silica. Raw-material properties do not automatically describe the performance of a finished protective system.
Illustrative example: a buyer receives two offers using silica-related language and assumes they represent equivalent coating systems. One may concern a raw-material dispersion and the other a different chemical solution. A technical clarification is needed before price, concentration or application comparisons can be meaningful.
Do not mix or substitute these materials in a finished coating without an approved development process. This guide does not prescribe a formulation or describe NANOLAB's composition. Product selection should follow the documented system and intended surface rather than a shared word in a chemical description.

Ask NANOLAB about the exact product and intended use. Use the current product documentation for formulation-specific instructions.
