Cleaner Dosing by Mass or Volume: Keep the Instruction Basis Intact

A dilution instruction expressed by mass is not automatically equivalent to the same numerical ratio by volume. Preserve the basis stated by the manufacturer and use the appropriate measuring method for the product.

The key distinction

Mass and volume describe different quantities. Converting between them requires relevant density information, not an assumption that every cleaner behaves like water. A workshop should make the instruction basis visible on its preparation record so that operators do not alternate methods while believing they are preparing the same dilution.

Practical checks

  1. Read the exact dilution wording and identify mass or volume.
  2. Use suitable measuring equipment and the approved preparation sequence.
  3. Ask the supplier to resolve ambiguous instructions before preparing a working solution.

Example

Illustrative example: one operator weighs concentrate while another measures the same number of millilitres. If the product's density is not one gram per millilitre, those additions are not identical. The useful correction is a consistent approved method, not an undocumented adjustment made after comparing cleaning results.

Scope and limits

Do not change concentration to compensate for an uncertain calculation. This guide does not provide a dilution ratio for any NANOLAB cleaner. Follow the exact product instructions, and keep concentrate identity, water quantity and preparation date available where the workshop's process requires them.
