Bulk Coating Gallons: Confirm US or Imperial Before Comparing Volume

A gallon can mean different volumes. Confirm whether a bulk coating offer uses the US liquid gallon or the imperial gallon before converting the quantity to litres or comparing unit prices.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

The key distinction

A US liquid gallon is about 3.785 litres; an imperial gallon is about 4.546 litres. The difference is large enough to affect the apparent value of a supply offer.

Practical checks

  1. Preserve the original unit wording.
  2. Ask the supplier to resolve an unspecified gallon.
  3. Convert the confirmed quantity and price on the same basis.

Example

Arithmetic example: ten US liquid gallons represent about 37.85 litres, while ten imperial gallons represent about 45.46 litres. The same printed gallon count does not identify the same supplied volume.

Scope and limits

These conversions do not establish recoverable filling volume or product compatibility. Use the actual quotation and approved process when planning finished output.
