Dynamic and Kinematic Viscosity in Coating Specifications

Dynamic and kinematic viscosity use different quantities and units. Density connects them under the appropriate conditions.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Practical approach

Check whether the report uses cP or mPa·s, versus cSt or mm²/s, and preserve the stated temperature and method.

A value of ten in one viscosity unit is not automatically the same specification as ten in the other.

Decision limits

Do not convert without a relevant density and confirmation that the conversion is appropriate for the material behaviour.
