Weld areas may need specialist finishing or remediation before a cosmetic coating is considered. The coating should not conceal unresolved fabrication issues.

Practical approach
Have the fabricator assess the weld zone and approve the surface condition. Document completed treatment before coating preparation.
A colour difference beside a weld may require a different investigation from ordinary fingerprints on the panel face.
Decision limits
Do not prescribe acid treatment or abrasive repair without the appropriate metalworking expertise and product guidance.
