QUARTZ99 Repairs: Identify Which Layer Needs Attention

A mark on a layered coating system may involve contamination, the finish, the base or the substrate. The repair decision should follow diagnosis.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Practical approach

Record the location and appearance, identify the complete system and have the certified installer assess the least disruptive appropriate intervention.

A local loss of water repellency should not automatically trigger removal of a sound base layer, while a damaged substrate may require more extensive work.

Decision limits

Do not prescribe abrasive removal from a photograph. Repair scope and reapplication requirements depend on the affected layer and approved procedure.
