Bulk Coating Purchasing: Define the Unit on Every Order Line

Litres, kilograms, bottles and cases describe different quantities. An order line without a clear unit can create a large discrepancy even when the numeric quantity is correct.

Practical approach

State quantity, unit, pack size and number of packs together. If purchasing by mass and filling by volume, document the applicable density conversion separately.

An order for 20 could mean 20 litres, 20 bottles or 20 cases. Writing 20 bottles of 50 ml makes the nominal total one litre and removes that ambiguity.

Decision limits

Do not silently convert units using water density or an old product's specification. Confirm the exact product and conversion basis.
