How Long Does Ceramic Coating Last?
Understand the difference between coating lifespan, visible water behaviour and warranty terms, and how use and maintenance affect the result.

There is no single expiry date
A coating’s useful life depends on its formulation, preparation, installation, exposure and maintenance. A vehicle stored indoors and washed carefully experiences a different workload from one parked outdoors and driven through heavy contamination every day.
Published durability or warranty periods should be read with their conditions. They are not promises that every car will show identical water beading for the same number of years. Warranty coverage may also require registration, inspections or defined care routines.
Follow condition over time
Keep a record of the application date, product and later treatments. At maintenance visits, inspect the finish after cleaning rather than relying on its appearance while dirty. A temporary loss of water repellency can result from contamination; it does not always establish that all coating has disappeared.
Different areas can age differently. Lower doors collect road film, horizontal panels retain water and high-contact areas experience more washing or handling.
Decide between cleaning and renewal
Start with diagnosis. If a compatible decontamination process restores performance and the surface remains sound, full renewal may be unnecessary. If correction or local paint repair is required, affected areas may need preparation and recoating. Avoid layering new material over unidentified residue simply to restore beads. Ask the installer to explain the evidence for any recommended renewal and the aftercare the new application requires.
