Not all plastics respond alike
Smooth painted plastic, textured unpainted trim and transparent components are different surfaces. Check the coating’s intended use and inspect for previous dressing, fading or damage. An apparent colour change may result from contamination or deterioration that coating alone cannot correct.
Test a discreet area for darkening, streaking and residue. Texture can make uneven application particularly difficult to level later.
Prepare the surface carefully
Use a compatible cleaner to remove designated residues and follow the required drying process. Avoid saturating joints or adjacent sensitive components. A paint-panel solvent routine should not be applied to unknown plastic without checking suitability.
Apply a controlled amount and work the product as instructed. Inspect recessed texture and edges where excess material may collect.
Evaluate realistic improvement
Some coatings may enhance appearance on suitable trim, but they do not repair cracking or restore missing material. Agree on the likely result before treatment. Maintain with appropriate cleaners and avoid adding incompatible dressings that mask the coating’s behaviour. Record the product used so later detailing can follow a consistent system rather than alternating unknown treatments.
