Panel Prep Before Ceramic Coating: Removing Residue Correctly
Understand the role of a final preparation wipe and avoid improvised solvent strengths that may not suit the paint or coating system.

Final cleaning has a specific role
A panel-preparation product removes designated oils and residues after the earlier cleaning and correction stages. It is not a substitute for washing away dirt or fixing an unstable surface. Choose a product compatible with the substrate and the coating you plan to install.
Do not assume an arbitrary alcohol-and-water concentration is suitable for every paint system, plastic or film. Follow the named preparation product’s instructions, including where and how it should be applied.
Use clean towels and a repeatable method
Work in manageable sections and use the specified amount. Inspect the towel as it collects residue, switching to a clean face or replacement when needed. Check that seams, badges and surrounding materials are not holding cleaner that can run onto finished areas.
If the surface still smears, identify whether the cause is polishing oil, detergent, an unsuitable towel or previous protection. Repeating the same wipe indefinitely can spread the problem.
Inspect after evaporation
Allow the preparation process to finish as directed. Look for haze, fingerprints, contamination and trapped moisture. Avoid touching prepared paint unnecessarily. When the surface is clean and dry, move into coating with clean gloves and organised tools. If work pauses and the car is exposed to dust, reassess readiness before continuing.
