Off-site coating can simplify project logistics, but it creates a traceability task between treatment and final installation. Each panel needs to remain connected to its product record and intended location. Otherwise a good application record may become detached from the surface it describes.
Use an agreed panel reference tied to drawings or the installation schedule. Record finish identity, relevant preparation and the approved product. Choose an identification method appropriate to the actual components and process rather than adding marks that could affect the finished surface.
Keep treatment dates, instructions and relevant return-to-handling guidance accessible to the teams involved. Document any observed damage or change during transport and assembly. For example, a repaired panel should not silently retain the same treatment record as an unchanged panel beside it.
Confirm which panel reference occupies each final location. Carry exclusions and unresolved observations into the client handover. Update the record if panels are substituted or refinished. The purpose is not to track every movement unnecessarily; it is to preserve the connection between the installed asset and the approved treatment. That connection helps facilities staff and future contractors ask informed questions without assuming every visually similar panel has the same history.
Assign each treated panel an identifier linked to its finish, product, treatment date and intended location. Use an identification method that does not damage or interfere with the finished surface. Record packing, transport and handling guidance supplied for the system.
At installation, confirm the final location and note substitutions, damage or repair. A replacement panel should receive its own treatment status rather than inheriting the original panel's record. Keep the completed location map in the handover folder. This preserves the connection between the workshop treatment and the building asset, allowing future maintenance questions to be answered for the correct panel.
