Record cleaning history and observation conditions before interpreting a change in water behaviour.
Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge
Water behaviour is an observation, not a complete diagnosis of a coated surface. Before judging a change, record the conditions under which it was seen and the maintenance history. This gives the installer or manufacturer a better basis for deciding what should be checked next.
Identify the product and surface where known. State whether the change affects the whole area or particular zones, and when it was first noticed. Keep photographs or video connected to that description. Avoid treating terms such as dead coating as a factual description of what the surface is doing.
Note washing, maintenance products, bodywork or other changes. Explain whether the surface was assessed before or after an approved cleaning process. For example, a comparison made under different cleaning conditions may not answer the same question as an earlier observation.
Provide the record to the responsible installer or product team. Follow the exact product's guidance rather than applying another layer or an aggressive treatment based only on water behaviour. Keep any recommended inspection and its findings in the same file. The useful conclusion may concern the next diagnostic step rather than an immediate declaration of success or failure. A repeatable observation helps reduce uncertainty; it does not establish every aspect of protection or remaining service life by itself.
Record the panel, installed product, cleaning history, other products applied, water source and observation method. Include a context photograph and note whether the surface was recently cleaned. Keep repeated observations comparable where practical.
Describe what is visible without assigning a cause prematurely: slower movement, different droplet shape or an uneven pattern are observations. They do not individually identify the coating's remaining service life. If the result changes after an approved maintenance process, record both states and the process used. This gives the installer a useful history for assessment while avoiding a simple good-beads/bad-beads verdict that overlooks surface condition and the limitations of the demonstration.
