An overseas coating enquiry can represent a consumer purchase, a professional workshop, a distributor or a private-label project. Treating every message as the same sales opportunity wastes time and can send the buyer irrelevant information. A short qualification process should make the next step easier for both sides.
Ask what the person is trying to buy or build, which country they operate in and which surfaces or customer groups matter. Let the buyer describe their business before assigning a route. A company email address alone does not establish distribution intent, and a small first enquiry does not necessarily indicate a small future account.
For a product question, obtain surface and usage information. For private label, clarify the proposed range and form of supply. For distribution, ask about the local customer base and support capacity. Keep price, volume and timing discussions tied to the actual offer rather than sending an unexplained universal price list.
For example, a retailer asking about a branded range should receive a sample and supply discussion, while a vehicle owner may need a local purchasing route. Record the enquiry type, unanswered questions and agreed next action. A qualified lead is one with a useful path forward, not simply one that supplied more personal information. Review progress by completed decisions rather than the number of messages exchanged.
Request the country, company role, intended customer segment, surfaces, supply format and approximate evaluation or order stage. Distinguish a consumer seeking one installation from a distributor planning resale and from a brand owner seeking private label supply.
Use the answers to route the enquiry rather than rejecting a lead solely because its first message is brief. For example, a request for a price may need clarification about whether the buyer wants bulk liquid, filled bottles or a local installer. Record shipping and commercial questions as pending until confirmed. A qualified enquiry is one with enough context for a relevant response, not necessarily one with the largest stated volume.
Discuss your distribution requirements. For supporting information, review the current product documentation and the local distributor information.
