Coated Leather and a New Interior Cleaning Brush

A new brush needs a small trial before use across coated upholstery. Construction and technique matter as much as softness claims.

Assess the starting condition

Inspect bristles, hard edges and cleanliness. Confirm the upholstery and coating’s approved tools. A brush suitable for textured plastic is not automatically appropriate for a leather finish.

A practical working method

  1. Test with the approved cleaner on an inconspicuous suitable section.
  2. Use controlled contact rather than increasing pressure.
  3. Inspect the dry finish for marks, residue and colour change.
  4. Compare with the existing accepted cleaning method.

Common mistake

Judging the brush only while the leather is wet can conceal changed appearance. A shared brush can carry residue from another interior material.

What a useful result looks like

The useful decision is based on the actual dry result and a repeatable method. Keep leather tools separate and replace or reassign any brush that cannot support the approved care routine.
