Temporary covers can conceal uneven exposure and contact residue. Inspect the uncovered upholstery before adding protection.

Assess the starting condition

Record the cover material and duration of use. Examine seams and bolsters for rubbing, transferred colour and trapped dirt. A different tone beneath a cover is not automatically a coating defect.

A practical working method

  1. Remove loose contamination and use approved cleaning.
  2. Inspect the dry finish against an adjacent reference.
  3. Confirm coating compatibility with the actual upholstery and repair history.
  4. Test appearance before treating the full suitable section.

Common mistake

Polishing or scrubbing the protected patch to match the rest can alter the leather finish. Coating does not prevent dirty cover contact from causing future wear.

What a useful result looks like

The useful outcome has an accepted clean baseline and clear cover-care instructions. Resolve persistent colour or finish damage through appropriate upholstery advice before treatment renewal.
