Individual metal letters create many edges and attachment points. Plan application around accessible cosmetic surfaces and the installed mounting system.

Assess the starting condition

Identify whether the lettering is stainless, plated, painted or PVD-finished. Confirm any cleaning restrictions from the fabricator. Small recessed areas may be impossible to prepare or level reliably.

A practical working method

  1. Inspect and photograph each finish type.
  2. Use a compatible trial on a representative letter or approved sample.
  3. Exclude bonding surfaces, electrical components and inaccessible cavities.
  4. Inspect residue along visible edges under the intended lighting.

Common mistake

Treating a metal-looking finish as bare stainless can lead to unsuitable preparation. Extra coating in narrow returns is not evidence of better coverage.

What a useful result looks like

The useful result is consistent presentation on the confirmed accessible faces. Record exclusions and give a practical cleaning method that does not depend on forcing tools into concealed spaces.
