Push plates receive repeated hand contact and local wear. Test the proposed coating against the cleaning method and contact pattern actually used.

Assess the starting condition

Identify the plate finish and photograph worn areas before treatment. Check the building’s cleaner and disinfectant requirements without assuming general stainless compatibility establishes coating compatibility.

A practical working method

  1. Prepare a representative plate and retain an untreated reference where practical.
  2. Keep fasteners and adjacent door materials protected.
  3. Record approved cleaning products and normal contact.
  4. Inspect high-touch zones separately from less-used edges.

Common mistake

Judging the entire plate from an untouched corner can overstate the maintained appearance. A coating also cannot restore scratches already in the metal.

What a useful result looks like

The useful result shows whether the approved system fits everyday maintenance. Document remaining wear and review intervals based on observed condition rather than an unsupported universal lifespan.
