Assess the starting condition

Identify bare stainless, clear-coated metal and decorative finishes separately. Photograph scratches and stains before preparation. An outdoor position does not establish that every coating is suitable for the surface.

A practical working method

  1. Confirm the product for the actual finish and exposure.
  2. Clean and inspect a small representative area.
  3. Exclude locks, moving parts and required attachment surfaces.
  4. Inspect the dry appearance after the specified cure stage.

Common mistake

Flooding gaps with coating can leave residue where it cannot be levelled or inspected. Water beading does not demonstrate protection of the mailbox mechanism.

What a useful result looks like

A useful result is an even cosmetic finish with clear maintenance instructions. Record treated faces and keep lock maintenance separate from surface care.
