From cutting and one-step correction to final finishing.
Occasional splash and sustained water contact are different application conditions. Describe the real exposure before choosing a coating for a metal component.

Record whether the surface meets intermittent splash, standing water, repeated cleaning or continuous immersion. Include relevant component and finish information. Do not describe every condition simply as indoor or outdoor use.
Ask the technical supplier about the actual exposure and intended function. A successful exterior sample does not establish suitability for every continuously wet area. Keep any confirmation connected to the named formulation and preparation method.
Where a supported trial is appropriate, record the exposure period, care method and accepted observations. Avoid judging suitability solely from the first water-repellency demonstration. Include edges and assembly limitations in the interpretation.
Document treated areas, exclusions and the supplied care plan. Keep unresolved material or installation requirements separate from the coating decision. Future maintenance can then review the actual application instead of assuming a general metal-coating approval.
Do not make that assumption. Obtain confirmation for the exact continuous-contact or immersion application.
