Identify the exposed finish

Record painted, textured, transparent and trimmed areas separately. Confirm the actual outer surface and intended coating use. A coating chosen for painted bodywork should not automatically be applied to every material on the assembly.

Agree the work position

Decide whether the hardtop will be inspected and treated installed or on an appropriate support. Use the vehicle and equipment guidance for removal and handling. Record access limitations and areas excluded from the job.

Plan contact after treatment

Review the product-specific waiting guidance and the intended storage supports or cover. Identify the surfaces that will touch padding or straps. A finished appearance does not establish readiness for every storage contact.

Keep a separate record

Record the hardtop’s preparation, application and maintenance history even if it shares the vehicle job number. At reinstallation, inspect contact points and compare with the accepted condition before storage.

Frequently asked question

Should the hardtop have the same coating date as the car?

Record the actual application date and process for each assembly. Separate work or storage can give the hardtop a different surface history.
