Lint Checks for Coating Towels: A Small Trial Before Installation

Towel lint can complicate coating levelling and inspection. Check the towels intended for the job before opening the coating bottle.

Use the actual prepared stock

Take representative towels from the clean batch assigned to coating. Inspect the fabric and edges under suitable light. Keep new, washed and previously used towels identified separately; the packaging description cannot establish the condition of every towel in storage.

Test without contaminating prepared paint

Use a clean, suitable test surface for a controlled wipe and inspect for fibres. Compare more than one towel and consider whether visible lint comes from the towel, the environment or an earlier cloth. Do not make a customer panel the first test.

Respond at batch level

If several towels show an unsuitable result, isolate the batch and review laundering, storage and product suitability. Keep replacement towels ready for the installation. Do not attempt to solve lint by increasing pressure on fresh coating or repeatedly wiping the same area.

Frequently asked question

Does one lint-free wipe prove a towel batch is suitable?

It is a useful observation, but check representative towels and the actual levelling task before relying on the whole batch.
