A full polishing range.
From cutting and one-step correction to final finishing.
Measure compound use with a repeatable bottle-weighing method. Keep spills, dispensing and residue separate when comparing polishing processes.

Estimating compound use from bottle level can be misleading, especially with opaque packaging. Weighing a closed bottle before and after a defined job provides a practical material record without pretending that every missing gram reached the paint.
Use a suitable scale on a stable surface. Check it according to its instructions. Weigh the same bottle with the same cap before and after the measured work. Keep the exterior clean and dry so liquid on the packaging does not distort the comparison.
Record the product and batch, panel area or defined task, pad system and correction objective. Do not compare a whole heavy cut job with a brief finishing test solely because both were performed on one vehicle.
The bottle mass difference measures material removed from that bottle during the interval. It may include useful dispensing, spills and liquid transferred to another container. Record those events separately. Product retained in the pad is still consumed from workshop stock even if it did not all contact the paint.
If cost is based on a package sold by mass, an attributable material cost can be calculated from that basis. If the purchasing unit is volume, obtain a valid density or use another appropriate measurement method before converting grams to millilitres. Do not assume that one gram equals one millilitre for every polish.
Record the mass used by every abrasive stage needed to reach the accepted finish. A cutting liquid that uses less material but requires additional refinement has not yet demonstrated lower total consumable cost.
Repeat on comparable jobs and preserve the variation rather than turning one vehicle into a universal consumption promise. Use the result for purchasing and process evaluation, with the paint’s preservation limits kept separate from cost targets.
Pair the record with the complete labour comparison. The dispensing test helps identify losses caused by packaging rather than abrasive performance.
