From cutting and one-step correction to final finishing.
Evaluate coating-ready claims by the exact polish, coating and preparation procedure instead of treating the phrase as permission to skip inspection.

Coating-ready is a compatibility claim that needs context. It may describe a manufacturer’s documented combination, but it should not be extended automatically to every ceramic coating or application method.
Identify the exact polish, pad, working procedure and coating named in the guidance. Check whether the claim includes a cleaning step or assumes a particular surface condition.
A general phrase on a retailer page is less useful than specific instructions from the manufacturers responsible for the products.
Even a compatible residue profile does not prove that scratches or haze have been resolved. Inspect the finish independently before deciding it is ready for protection.
A product can be suitable for the next stage while the technician’s result remains incomplete. Compatibility and workmanship are different checks.
Some polishes deliberately deposit protection. That may suit a polish-and-protect service, but the next coating’s requirements still govern whether it can be used beneath that system.
Do not assume silicone-free means residue-free or that water-based means no preparation is necessary. Those labels answer different formulation questions.
Save the current instructions used to approve the combination and record the actual process on the job. If switching one component, reassess rather than carrying the old compatibility conclusion forward.
Where no supported route is documented, choose a correction and preparation sequence that the coating supplier can confirm.
This is also a useful purchasing filter. A supplier should be able to explain the limits of its claim clearly. The practical value of coating-ready is a predictable, documented transition, not the removal of every cleaning and inspection step from a service quotation.
