Identify anodised or coated aluminium trim and confirm preparation compatibility before considering ceramic protection.
Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Metallic-looking trim may be anodised aluminium, plated plastic, painted metal or another finish. Ceramic coating selection begins with reliable identification. A product that suits automotive clear coat should not automatically be applied to an unfamiliar decorative metal treatment.
Check vehicle or component information and any known refinishing history. Inspect for staining, existing clear coatings and damaged edges. Avoid abrasive identification methods on a visible area; creating a test scratch is not a sensible way to identify the finish.
Record the desired appearance, especially on satin or coloured trim. Some surface treatments can change sheen or darken a finish. Compatibility includes an acceptable visual result, not simply whether the liquid spreads.
Ask about the preparation chemical as well as the ceramic coating. An otherwise suitable protection product does not make an incompatible degreaser or polish acceptable. Test the complete approved sequence in an inconspicuous area where feasible.
If the component’s finish is deteriorating, seek advice about that condition first. Coating will not restore lost anodising or repair corrosion damage. Avoid sealing over an unresolved problem merely to create temporary gloss.
Send NANOLAB support the component description, photographs and available material information when suitability is uncertain. State whether the intended use is exterior trim, a wheel component or another application; the exposure and functional requirements differ.
If compatibility cannot be established, exclude the trim from the coating scope and provide an appropriate cleaning plan instead. A documented exclusion gives the owner a clearer result than an unsupported promise that one bottle protects every metallic surface.
