Caring for Coated Shower Glass in a Hard-Water Home

Hard-water deposits can still appear on coated shower glass. The treatment does not change the incoming water, so the care routine should address both residue removal and water left on the enclosure after use.

Observe where marks form

Check the lower glass, edges and areas directly in the spray path. Note whether deposits are widespread or concentrated where water remains. Inspect the glass dry, because a wet surface can make some marks temporarily less visible.

Make routine drying convenient

Where permitted by the glazing and coating instructions, use a clean suitable squeegee or drying cloth after use. Keep the tool nearby and free from grit or hardened residue. Drying is a maintenance step, not proof that cleaning is no longer necessary.

Address deposits with compatible products

Use the approved cleaner and follow its directions. Protect adjacent stone, metal and seals from unsuitable runoff. If a mark persists after suitable cleaning, seek assessment before increasing strength or scrubbing harder. Keep the product history available so the installer can distinguish residue from a change in the underlying glass.
